How to use the Modern resume builder
- Replace the sample content. Every field starts filled so you can see the layout — type over it, or hit "Clear every field" to start blank.
- Write results, not duties. In each experience bullet, say what changed because you were there: numbers, volume, time saved, people handled.
- Check the preview. It updates as you type. Keep an eye on the page counter under the sheet.
- Download the PDF. In the print dialog choose Save as PDF, set margins to None and switch off headers and footers.
Settings worth knowing
- Fit to one page shrinks the sheet slightly so a resume that spills over by a few lines still prints on one page. Turn it off if the text gets too small to read comfortably.
- Education layout — List parses more reliably in applicant tracking systems. Table matches the format many Indian employers and colleges expect. Pick based on where you're sending it.
- Accent colour only changes the name, section headings and table header. Body text stays black for print clarity.
- Page size — stick to A4 unless a form specifically asks for Legal.
Frequently asked questions
Is my resume data stored anywhere?
No. The builder runs entirely inside your browser — nothing is uploaded, nothing is saved to a server, and closing the tab clears it all. Download your PDF before you leave.
My PDF has extra headers, page numbers or a URL on it
That's your browser adding them, not the resume. In the print dialog open "More settings" and untick Headers and footers, then set Margins to None.
Will this pass applicant tracking systems?
The layout is single column with standard headings and real selectable text, which parses cleanly. For the safest result, set the education layout to List — some older parsers mangle table cells.
How do I add a photo?
This template has no photo slot, and that's deliberate — for most roles in India, the US and the UK a photo on a PDF resume adds no hiring signal and can confuse parsing software. Put your photo on a digital CV instead, where a human is always the reader.
Can I get a second page?
Yes — turn off "Fit to one page" and the content flows onto a second sheet. Only do it if you have roughly ten years of experience or more; otherwise cut instead.
